Visual Soft, Inc is seeking qualified candidates to work on our efforts with a Prime for their end customer, a federal agency in Washington, DC

Position: Backup / Restore Systems Administrator - MUST be a US Citizen (should be able to obtain a Pubic Trust)
Location:  on our project with a Prime for a classified federal agency, Washington, DC (Onsite work, no remote work allowed)

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Establish and maintain a defined backup schedule which allows data to be recovered quickly and easily, and ensure that backups occur on schedule
  • Ensure that backup and restore procedures and execution meet contractually agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs), including Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) for different types of data
  • Conduct periodic data restoration tasks to ensure that the backup systems are functioning properly
  • Work in a rapid paced environment and work independently
  • Maintain the smooth operation of a multi-user computer systems, including coordination with other administrators, customers and engineers
  • Interact with users and evaluate vendor products
  • Evaluate hardware and software, with the goal of improving and increasingly automating operations
  • Create, maintain, and implement detailed documentation and maintain standard operating procedures
  • The current storage solution utilizes a combination of NetApp and EMC products.
  • The current backup solution is based on NetBackup software/appliance in combination with NetApp/EMC.
  • Apply security settings and other commercial security best practices
Required Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years’ experience, or a Master's degree and 3 years relevant experience. An additional 4 years’ experience, and/or relevant certifications will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Customer interface experience
  • Excellent experience with backup, restore and storage systems and devices
  • Scripting experience
  • System (hardware) and application (software) installation and configuration
  • System monitoring using installed tools as well as external tools
  • Application of security settings and other commercial security best practices
  • Experience with configuration, troubleshooting and maintaining virtual and cloud environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with the following:
    • Veritas Enterprise Version 7.6 (Windows Master – Media Servers – using tapes)
    • Veritas Netbackup Appliance Version 8.1 (Linux based appliance – disk to disk backup)
    • EMC VNX 5200 & VNX 5400 (All SAN)
    • NetApp FAS8040, FAS8020, FAS3220 7 (All CIFS shares)
Desired Qualifications:
Any DoD active SECRET or Top Secret clearances are highly preferred
